Shagufta Omar, worked in the capacity of an Assistant Professor, and In-charge of the Dawah Centre for Women, Dawah Academy, IIUI, since 1998 till 2022. She holds a master's degree in “Human Rights Law”, from the Faculty of Shariah and Law, IIUI.
Her twenty-three years at Dawah Centre to-date entailed designing, planning, and organising more than 100 residential and non-residential training programs, resulting in 8000 women master trainers hailing from different walks of life. The Hajj Master Trainers program prepared 700 active Hajj Master Trainers (HMTs) from all over Pakistan, many of them have been inducted in the official training system of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. Several of her brochures, explaining various aspects of Hajj o Umrah, have been published and distributed throughout Pakistan. Her book, “Ahkamat-e-Hajj-o-Umrah: An authentic and detailed Guidance for Men and Women” was awarded first prize from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in 2014.
Not just an academic, Mrs. Shagufta Omar is also a social worker and volunteers as Director Research, Women Aid Trust (WAT), providing legal aid and rehabilitation services to the women and juveniles in jails and general society and undertaking advocacy and awareness of Shariah based national laws in the country since 1994. She has numerous published and unpublished research papers, and her research work also resulted in more than 20 books published by Dawah Academy, Women Aid Trust and Maktaba Rahat ul Islam.
